Tuesday 15th August – walk **** Around Felixstowe – sunny and hot.

After 4 consecutive days of some full-on windsurfing, I was pleased to wake to lighter winds and wall to wall sunshine but instead of taking things easy we ended going on a 4 mile plus walk around Felixstowe! The usual start to the day with the many word games we do, followed by exercises in the sunny back garden, then being a Tuesday out day to visit an old friend, we have lunch at home before walking around to Mary’s. We had arranged to take her out in her electric wheelchair but had trouble with the battery so had to take the motor off which meant me pushing her, which was OK. Our plan was to take her down to the seafront to see the ferries wheel a new attraction here until October so we set off around 2.30, passing our house to show her Mags lovely front garden in full bloom. Then down for a quick spin around Lidl, through Langer Park leading to Felixstowe Prom down near the amusements where the wheel stands in all its glory. It would have been nice to take Mary for a spin on the wheel but there was a big queue and disabled access looked very poor with a big step to access and leave which I was very surprised to see in this day and age, perhaps there is a disabled ramp somewhere else and didn’t see it??? We continued along the prom which was way too crowded for our liking but great for people watching! A quick trip around the pier to the Spa Theatre and up the slope called the pram walk, through the town centre and walk to Marys knackered for a well deserved cuppa and cake, we all enjoyed our afternoon and were surprised we had walked over 4 miles!
